Cruises for Seniors

Cruising is a wonderfully different way to see the world, and cruises come in many different shapes and sizes to suit everyone. For people whose children have grown up and flown the nest, and who are perhaps post retirement, cruising offers opportunities that you probably never had before. For starters, you are no longer tied to when you travel, or how long you are away for, those days are behind you now, and so the chance to take a longer cruise can be yours. Cruises take place that last just a couple of nights, or a couple of weeks, right up to world cruises that last two or three months.

Cruising is relaxing. It’s a bit like travelling along in a 5 star hotel with all the amenities, food, and entertainment laid on for you. At the same time, your transport whisks you across beautiful oceans and seas, often travelling through the night so that you wake refreshed the next morning in a new place.

Each port that you visit will hold something new, and no cruise would be the same without exciting excursions onto land at every stop. From shopping to seeing the sights, every day will hold something new and exciting be it views from the cruise ship as you float past the jungles of south America, or spectacular fjords, or as you sail through the islands of the Mediterranean and see the black beaches of some of the Canary Islands. Stand on the deck watching dolphins in the waters off Tenerife or the sun setting over the ocean miles from land.
On board your cruise ship, you can enjoy fine dining in traditional cruise ship style, evening entertainments of high quality, and plenty to do during the day too. From sitting by the pool, chatting with the other passengers about what you’re seeing and doing, to joining in with one of the many activities that take place on board a cruise ship.
One lovely thing with a cruise is that you get to visit many places, but only ever have to unpack your bags once! The cost of your cruise includes virtually everything you’re likely to spend except possibly the odd gift, as all your meals, entertainment on board ship, and most excursions are all paid for as part of the deal. Accessibility isn’t an issue either, as modern cruise ships are set up so that they have some very accessible state rooms for people who use wheelchairs, sticks or walking frames.

So, it doesn’t matter who you choose to sail with, or where in the world you choose to go, once you settle into your state room on board your floating hotel, your holiday has begun and you’ll be whisked off to new places while you’re unpacking, eating, dancing or sleeping. It’s a wonderful experience and one well suited to post retirement life.
